Final cue sheets for year 13 Drama exam.

These are our final cue sheets with any final annotation added.

Year 13 Drama exam evaluation. Thursday 26th November.

The thing generally went well , almost every cue worked on time and even when it didn't it was in sync with the music or was a blackout therefore the audience wouldn't have noticed. Me and Owen worked well and everything was in the right place and all the rest of the cues were followed on time or in time with the music/SFX. One of the problems was where it went to blackout after a cue instead of jumping to the next cue but managed to get it sorted within a few seconds and made no inconvenience for the actors or the audience. Another problem we had was I pressed the play button to early on a cue and it went a scene to early but lucky it was in time with the music and looked like it was on purpose so the audience wouldn't have known any different. Overall we completed the task with no more than a few minor errors , we also had to re-focus the lights after the last group because the LEDPARs where facing the wrong way round but we had no other lighting problems.

dress rehearsal Thursday 26th November for year 13 Drama exam.

Everything went well , there was a point where Owen skipped over about three cues but managed to skip it backwards to the right one in time. We also had a small problem where the lights where not focused properly after the last group when ended up with them lighting the drama teachers slightly more than planned. We also ran into a problem with the floorPARs when flicking through the cue stack on chamsys to make sure that everything is working , there was a problem with the 15amp connector cable that was attached to the dimmer , so I quickly swapped it with the other 15amp connector cable that was also plugged into the dimmer pack because it was to be used for a light that we found out that wasn't needed but the group didn't let us know until the first rehearsal so it was handily still plugged in.

Ladder safety

What are the hazards?
Who might be harmed and why?
What are you already doing?
Do you need to do anything else to control this risk?
Action by who?
Action by when?
Done?
Dropping something from up the ladder.
People beneath you, the person spotting you, the equipment.
We have safety bonds for lanterns so they don’t drop.
Make surely you’ve got a firm grip on what your carrying up/down the ladder.
You need to make sure that everything is secure up the ladder before you go down again.
You need to make sure everything is safe before you go back down again.

Ladder braking
The person climbing the ladder along with the person spotting you or people who are close by.
Making sure the ladder is secure and the hinges are folded down properly and that there are no steps missing.
That whoever last used the ladder had put it away properly so it could be used again without risk.
Whoever is using the ladder or last used the ladder.
Before you put it away for someone else to use.

Slips and trips
The person climbing the ladder and people around the ladder
Making sure the ladder is dry and you have appropriate footwear on.
Make sure the spotter has got a good grip of the  ladder.
You and your spotter.
Before you go up or down the ladder.

Aluminium Tower practice.

We learned how to use the tower and the safety precautions around that. You must always wear a hard hat when your climbing into the ladder and gloves to protect your self from getting metal splinters but the hard hat to protect your head form the ladders door because it can be awkward and heavy to maneuver. While you are up the tower you must take your hard hat off  in case it was to fall of your head and hurt someone beneath you. It has a 2.7m platform and a 4.7m working height , you must never move the tower if there is anything or anyone already up there for health and safety reasons. Lastly you must never climb up the side of the tower or access it any other way than up the ladder with a hard hat.

health and safety for rigging.

What are the hazards?
Who might be harmed and how?
What are you already doing?
Do you need to do anything else to control this risk?

Dropping equipment
people around/underneath you when you are carrying big or heavy equipment. If you were to drop some of your equipment for example a lantern from a ladder you could seriously damage whoever is underneath you.
when someone is spotting you while your on the ladder they must wear a hard hat for protection or if your doing work up ladders with generally heavy equipment then everyone who is working in an area near or under you they must also be wearing hard hats.
.
make sure that when your attaching equipment to the IWB's make sure that they are attached by a safety chain, therefore reducing the risk of it falling.

who ever is operating up ladders or with the IWB's. Or whoever is carrying heavy equipment.

while you are up a ladder /before you come down.
     Falling off a ladder
Yourself or who is working with/around you. If you were to fall of a ladder you could seriously damage yourself alongside the people beneath you or the equipment your working with
whenever you go up a ladder you must make sure that you have someone spotting you with a hard hat on and that you don't go above the third from top step otherwise there is potential for you to loose your balance.
That while you are up a ladder you need to make sure that your not overreaching ,therefore putting yourself or others at danger by you potentially loosing balance.
whoever is up the ladder/ who is spotting the ladder.
before you go up/while your up the ladder.

     Ladder falling over
yourself or those around the ladder because if you were to put a ladder on an uneven surface then it could fall and hurt someone or damage equipment.
making sure that two people set up the ladder safely and that before someone is to go up the ladder they have someone ready to spot them.
make sure that the ladder is set up sensibly and that its on an even surface.
whoever is setting up the light.
before anyone goes up the ladder.

Slips and Trips
People who are moving in the working environment  could get  their feet  caught in the FloorPAR’s  cables therefore creating a trip hazard .
Make people aware who are using the office or are moving around the staging area that there are wires and also make sure that all the wires are taped down therefore reducing the trip hazard.
N/A
Whoever is responsible for using these wires must make sure that they have made everyone aware.
Before anyone uses the working space.

Manual Handling
Anyone who is moving the ladder or is around the ladder when its being moved . They could be harmed by when someone who is carrying the ladder was to drop it on them it could do some damage. Or damage the ladder
Making sure that there are two people carrying the ladder whenever its being moved , making sure that there are always two people operating the ladder with appropriate equipment , making sure that you bend your knees and keep a straight back when your lifting the ladder so that you don’t damage your back.
N/A
Whoever is operating the ladder or lifting the ladder or is around  the ladder.
Before / while you are operating the ladder .

Year 13 drama tech rehearsals / Bulb changing - Monday 23rd of November

Yesterday I had to change a bulb for one of our FloorPARs that is being used in the rehearsal because it had stopped working , this is how I changed it. First you must pull out the safety screw that is attached to a spring inside the side of bulb.
You can then lift of the back of the lantern which is attached to the bulb through this two pin socket which once you detached you can then have access to the bulb .
But before you can actually take the bulb out you must take out the small safety clamp that runs round the edge of the bulb, you do this by squeezing the two ends and it will automatically loosen and pop off.
You then have complete access to the bulb , which I removed and placed a new one straight out of the box inside the lantern , once your new bulb is in you then have to go through all the steps backwards. So first I had to attach the safety clamp , then attach the two pin lantern plug and lastly to slide the back case of the lantern on you have to pull the safety bolt out.

During the Tech rehearsal last night my year 13 group "pressure" decided that they didn't want the floor PARs to go behind the shadow screen but instead they wanted them to go center stage right instead of next to the exit stairs at back stage right . So I then had to move the PARcans to their new desired position.
We also had to attach all of our gels for the exam during our lesson on that day , so for example their is a FloorPAR lantern with LO26 red gel , we also had to attach LO13 to 8 Lanterns.

Thursday 19th of November - setting up for the Christmas concert.

Today we set up for the Xmas concert as a group , this included clearing the stage , patching the speakers,  rigging up tabs , putting mics on the drums , creating a drum stand , building a fireplace , rigging the soundboard in the box.  I personally helped create the drum stand with rowan and ashley , patched in the left set of speakers with ashley, then rigged the soundboard in the box with rowan and tom.

This is a picture of me creating the drum set stand with rowan and ashley.

DLG Thursday 5th lesson

Today we discussed about what we would like to use for the Ringwood school Xmas poster , in our group (me , Elisha , Asha , Ryan) we came up with a poster that was blue and had snowflakes on it , we as a class weren't sure weather we would like to use teachers faces or not in Christmas costume. We also decided that we where going to go around year 7 tutors and ask them if they would to sign up for the xmas show .

light Focusing

Today we(singe and double BTEC) all learned/practiced focusing lights behind the stage , we assembled a ladder under the rigging bars and worked in pairs where one of us would where the hard hat and spot the other who would be going up the ladder to focus the light. To focus a profile spot you must move the two knobs on the bottom of the light one of which will effect the beam angle and one will effect the edge.
